The Moncrieff-Bray Gallery is a spectacular 120 square metre converted barn and landscaped gardens, with stunning views over the Rother Valley and South Downs. It opened in 2005 to hold regular exhibitions of contemporary painting and sculpture.
The gallery is located just five minutes from Petworth on the A283 towards Fittleworth and Pulborough. It draws established and emerging artists alike from all corners of the British Isles, from Land’s End to the Isle of Arran. Both the sculpture and the art respond to the surrounding scenery. The floor-to-ceiling windows and open barn door encourages this visual dialogue between interior and exterior, art and landscape. In keeping with the country location, the gallery has a strong interest in landscapes and seascapes, alongside a variety of still lives and interiors that also feature natural or organic subjects.
The gallery prides itself on its relaxed and welcoming approach: dogs and children are always welcome, and parking is easy. Combine a visit with a trip to Petworth with its wealth of art and antique shops. We look forward to welcoming you to this surprising destination –a gallery of West End quality located half a mile down a farm track in the heart of the South Downs National Park.
