Bentley Miniature Railway near Uckfield operates 7¼ inch scale model locomotives and runs most weekends during the summer on the Bentley Estate.
Established in 1985, Bentley Miniature Railway has developed into one of South East England’s hidden treasures.
It comprises a one-mile ground-level 7 1/4″ gauge miniature railway, with a variety of privately owned steam, internal combustion and electric powered locomotives. All are built to standard or narrow-gauge profiles, hauling our public passenger carrying trains.
Bentley, located just 5 miles south of Uckfield, the railway offers views of, what could be considered, the centrepiece of Bentley, the Raymond Erith’s Palladian inspired House which remained home to Mary Askew up until her death in November 2008. This includes the formal gardens by Jim Russell which have been developed with the Askew’s vision since 1937 to their current standard.
