Join us at Petworth for this exciting weekend of activities in celebration of the night sky as part of our Skyscape exhibition season. A weekend of lantern decorating and processions, natural voice singing, workshops and activities from award-winning authors, artists and performers plus stargazing in celebration of our inspiring skies.
Book for the day and experience a raft of drop-in workshops, activities and encounters including Brighton’s beloved Samesky for luminous lantern decorating, torch processions and singing sessions through the parklands and into the night sky.
Children’s author and art writer, Michael Bird leads a family activity session based on tales about artists from his bestselling children’s book Vincent’s Starry Night and Other Stories. Award-winning independent children’s bookshop, The Book Nook will present very special guest, Sarah Massini, illustrator of Star in a Jar with an interactive storytelling session for children in the house.
Weekend Day Tickets include entry to the house where you will have the chance to see some of the historic rooms and the Petworth art collection, including works by Turner and Constable, both avid painters of the sky.
Our curator has specially selected sky themed artworks for you to explore with a Sky Art Tour. You also have access to Skyscape, a touring exhibition from the Ashmolean featuring artworks dedicated to artists’ fascination with the sky.
The event and all activities are designed for people of all ages to enjoy and be able to take part in.
