Nellie’s Arctic Adventure Winter Trail at Sheffield Park and Garden near Uckfield, from 22nd January to 27th February 2022 a winter wander telling the story of Nellie Soames, the first woman to venture into the Arctic.

Join us on a pioneering outdoor adventure bringing to life the astonishing story of Nellie Soames, former owner at Sheffield Park and one of the first women to venture into the Arctic.

The centrepieces of the trail, created by community artist, Roy Kelf, with the help of local primary school pupils, are sculpted from recycled plastic containers. Don’t miss the great polar bear and an ice cave where you can immerse your senses in the shimmering lights and sounds Nellie described so vividly in her account.

This winter wander will delight visitors of all ages and carries an important message of sustainability and the preservation of places of natural beauty.
